The British Government has been highly incompetent (£40B, what for?) and European vacillation was predictable from day 1

Whatever you think of May she represents Great Britain and Northern Ireland. Brussels technocrats have shown her nothing but disrespect and contempt, they never intended negotiating

Truth is nobody knows as the negotiations are secret.

All the confusion has been caused by politicians on all sides leaking stuff for their own ends and the endless media speculation.

The DUP want a hard Brexit with an automatic hard border that they can blame on the EU and Britain , that the isolates NI from ireland

The EU should have 'escorted' the UK out of the building as 17 million of the UKs voters probably assumed it would. Cameron tried and failed to negotiate any concessions to appeal the UK voters to stay; that should have told you all you needed to know. Now what if today's real majority want us to stay in and be real awkward cvnts when it comes to voting?

The EU is our enemy, and it will relinquish its power over the UK only when forced to.

The EU didn't initiate the process and it isn't going to agree to anything the UK wants that would be contrary to the interests of other EU member states. That's not deliberately making the process as complex as possible. It is the government's need to reconcile irreconcilable differences within the Conservative party that is making it complex.

Brexit is very complex, and the British government is incompetent. The EU is making it neither easy nor difficult - it is doing what it has to do for a member state to leave, without damaging the rest of the EU. The EU does not have to make deals or compromises - merely insist that UK honours its existing commitments and ends its membership with as little disruption to the member states.

Theresa May has made a serious of commitments and undertakings to the DUP, the EU, soft Brexiters in her party, and hard Brexiters in her party which are mutually incompatible, and she's now discovering she can't deliver.

She's done the equivalent of promising to be at your Mum's birthday, your best friend's wedding, your kid's school concert and discovering they are all happening at the same time, each 200 miles apart. She's stuffed.
