When I told my friend she was like "he is way too old"
Are age gaps really that much of an issue in gay relationships?

Its fine, go and have a date with him. You will find out soon enough if its working for you both.

Age gaps shouldn't be important in any relationship, I have dated women and men and have had an age gap of 25 years before. If 2 people are both interested then there should be no age limits.

Don't let others rule your life. If you like the guy then go out with him again.

Not at all. I've known a couple who were 20 years apart. There's only 8 between you two - really not much, and it gets a proportionally smaller gap as you get older.
If she thinks 8 years' gap is too much, what DOES she think is young enough for you?

Age is not really that relevant once you are an adult. I hang out with a guy half my age and we get along great.

I wouldn’t think so. They are certain,y not in heterosexual relationships when the man is 5 tomeven 20 years older

I think if the older one is over 30 then 10 years either side is fine, there is more leeway and it's not a paedo issue or anything. If the older one is 20 then obviously 10 years below is not OK. You can use your head on such matters.

No. So long as the two parties in question are of the legal age of consent it's fine.
