Has America experienced unwanted demographic changes compared to 1990? Or not?

That depends on who you're asking. Liberal democrats like immigration from relatively poorer countries because the newly arrived immigrants tend to support liberal social and economic programs which are funded by working taxpayers who hold legitimate jobs. Liberal democrats also support the expansion of those demographic groups that support policies like that - meaning that they don't see it as a problem when newly arrived immigrants tend to have a higher number of offspring than Americans who have roots in the US that can be traced back further or when people in that demographic group tend to have children at a much earlier age.

More conservative Americans, many of whom identify as Republican, don't appreciate high numbers of immigrants being allowed into the country because the services required to cater to them need to be funded with taxpayer's money - and considering that the United States is not without its share of problems, those people see providing for immigrants - especially ILLEGAL immigrants, as being a waste of money and resources that would be put to better use by improving the station of American citizens.

Immigrants receive monetary benefits, health benefits, housing assistance, food stamps, they are eligible for welfare and work-fare programs, employment counselling... they also need to have access to translators and arrangements need to be made for their children to attend schools, all of this costs an extraordinary amount of money and requires a massive amount of planning and coordination.

Think about the staggering, shameful number of American citizens there are that are going without basic necessities... Do you have any idea what proportion of the US homeless population veterans comprise? Do you know how many children there are in the United States that are not capable of reading at the appropriate level for their age? Do you know how dismal the performance of American schoolchildren is in comparison to those of other first-world nations? Do you know how terrible the statistics are for crime and violence in American cities when compared to other parts of the world? Do you know how big of a problem drugs are in the US compared to other countries? Do you know how many Americans are living in poverty? Do you have any idea how many Americans don't have the education needed to move up in society? Do you have any idea what a shortage there is of properly trained and experienced professionals in American industries?

I really don't see how ANYONE could argue with this point. Yes, these immigrants deserve a better life. They deserve to raise their children in a safe, stable environment where they can have opportunities in life. So they ought to begin to build a society that caters to those needs. They ought to band together to initiate change in their home countries. The problems of Guatemala and Honduras and El Salvador are not the problems of the citizens of the United States. And the lot should not fall to American citizens to fix those problems, much less to enable thousands of people to simply abandon those places so that they might avail themselves of resources that ought to be allotted to US citizens and ONLY US citizens.

If there are no jobs or schools in your country, that's your problem. If the government is corrupt and the police are inept, that's your problem. The industrialized world has allowed tens of millions of people from Latin America, Africa, the Middle East, South, Southeast and East Asia to come to Western Europe, Australia and New Zealand and North America. They've failed to assimilate. They've diluted our culture. And they continue to identify with and to sympathize with people in their countries of origin.

The United States doesn't need another 10,000 Spanish-speaking immigrants who are uneducated and unskilled. Because you know what? None of them have the skills to build a life in the US and to assimilate into American culture. They can't speak English, they are unfamiliar with the American way of life. Not to mention that many of those immigrants will themselves have a greater number of children than the average American couple - leading to a spike in their numbers in only one single generation. That 10,000 will be 50,000 in a decade, 100,000 in 20 years, 200,000 in 30 years... The population of the United States increased by 100,000,000 in the past 30 years alone. Many experts predict that the population of the US could reach or even exceed 500,000,000 by 2050, that's barely 30 years from now. Half a billion people.

And what does it do for the people who are left behind in Guatemala, Honduras, El Salvador and Mexico? Letting these people in means that nothing changes there. Except that even more people will want to leave. The schools won't improve. No new jobs will be created. The government won't become any more capable. The police won't become any less inept. Corruption, poverty, crime, all of those problems will get worse. If you allow people to run away, they will.

Imagine if I were to tell you that I'm willing to provide you with a certificate for $500 worth of new kitchenware daily. Would you bother washing plates and bowls, knives and forks and spoons? Of course not, you'd throw away whatever's dirty and replace it daily. That's what we're doing. We're telling these people that it's okay to run away, that they don't need to actually attempt to fix their own issues, that escape is the best option. So why would ANY of them stay? Today it's 10,000, tomorrow it's 25,000. Where does it end?

The US MUST freeze any and all unprocessed applications from people who are looking to immigrate from any of these countries. The US MUST end birthright citizenship, and make it a law that only children born to a parent who is a US citizen may apply for full citizenship. And the US must enforce existing laws that protect American citizens from being swarmed and overwhelmed by illegal immigrants. ANYONE who enters the US illegally ought to be treated as a criminal and processed like a criminal. ANYONE who enters the US illegally should be barred from entering the country for life and completely stripped of his or her right to ever seek to apply to immigrate - even through legal channels. The statute of limitation on ANY and ALL illegal immigrants ought to be lifted, and anyone found to have broken any immigration law ought to be held accountable, whether that person just hopped the fence an hour ago or has been here for 50 years.

Latin Americans need to start thinking about the future of Latin America, because the truth is, that they don't have a future in the United States. If recent events haven't amplified the views of the majority resoundingly enough, Americans are tired of giving handouts.

Time for Americans to get their own house in order. Eradicate homelessness. Eradicate unemployment. Eradicate the scourge of gun violence and drugs. Eradicate crime. Get veterans the treatment they need. Get kids off the streets and back into the classroom. Eliminate the revolving door for-profit prison system. Make sure every kid has enough to eat. Make sure every kid can read and can keep up with his or her peers elsewhere. make sure everyone has a winter coat and electricity and clean, safe drinking water. Make sure everyone has a pair of shoes and access to doctors and therapists.

To Hell with Latin Americans. We need to take care of our own.

Unwanted only in the sense of illegal aliens invading, everything else is just fine
