breast biopsy question!!?

i have a rubbery round lump in my right breast. it is movable does doesn't hurt. i found it when i was 17 and i am 18 now. i don't think it is cancerous but i am terrified that i will more than likely have to get a biopsy when i go to the doctor soon. i am extremely scared of needles and they make me freak out and hyperventilate. is there any way to help ease my anxiety for this procedure?

Let them know about your anxiety. They can give you medicine to help you relax. Best of luck with your biopsy. Hope it turns out okay for you.

This question is about your irrational fears and has nothing to do with cancer. Try acting like an adult and just endure what you have to. If it's something you were really worried about then why did you wait so long in the first place and not tell your parents?

VERY unlikely that they would rush to biopsy a lump in a teenager. The vast majority of lumps are cysts or a normal part of your breast, and would not need a biopsy at all.

They will start with a high resolution mammogram then possibly an ultrasound, a biopsy is last, so why panic now--wait and see. More than likely its just dense, fibrocystic tissue. And the biopsy is pretty benign actually, have had several and they are done under ultrasound guidance, you really cant see, and you feel nothing.

Ask your doctor what he thinks about that lump. Given your age it is one chance in a million that it could be cancer. Family Doctors don't do biopsies.

if you start to panic, look around the room. Find things you can see, four things you can feel, three things you can hear, two things you can hear, and one thing you can taste. It helps to take your mind off of what is making you panic.
