No country in the world elects a President with executive powers through pure popular vote alone.
Even the Prime Minister in England is not elected that way. The prime minister is the head of the party that had won most of the constituencies..... not the majority of popular votes in the country as a whole.
What Democrats are demanding is mob rule by few large states, disenfranchising the rest of the country.

No, but we should reform the Electoral College to make the method of counting consistent across states, and all electoral votes should be allocated pro rata according to the popular vote.

would love that, but it would take a change to the constitution, which means 3/4 of states need to ratify, since small states are reaping the benefit of an electoral college that unfairly gives them greater influence I don't see them ratifying it, so the rest of us keep getting screwed
