When will the people making copyright claims against pirating sites learn that they will never stop them?
If it is a really popular show then it doesn't matter how many copyright claims they make and how many torrents of that show get removed, because people will constantly upload more. It's the same with the government getting rid of torrent websites. Those aren't going anywhere. Why do they waste their time? Note: I am not advocating for pirating I'm just wondering why they waste their time dealing with it when it essentially does nothing. I guess it could be used as a scare tactic but it doesn't seem to be scaring people either. What's your thoughts?

Actively defending copyright and trademark rights is required to keep them.
If a company fails to make at least some documented attempts to claim infringement, that inaction could be used by another party in court to justify claiming ownership for themselves or declaring the product to be "in the public domain."
If I remember correctly, this is how Asprin and Escalator ceased to be protected trademarks and became generic terms in the USA.

If enough people go to prison for criminal copyright infringement, maybe it will someday make an impression on the ignorant who didn't think it was a crime. Sure, there is always the "dark web", but prosecutors can make ordinary access to pirate sites more difficult, and catching "customers" may also be in the cards.

Pirates are idiots

OK then why are we wasting our time trying to get people to stop taking Heroin and Fenynal? Just because something can not be stopped does not make it legal or moral.

The sites may not get shut down, but oftentimes the individual people hosting the files get caught and prosecuted.
