A 4K TV has way more information in the picture giving it a clearer sharper picture on a 4K signal. While this seems impressive the thing to remember is the TV stations don't transmit a 4K signal so watching a normal tv program may not show up any better on a 4K tv than it does on a regular TV. Back a few years ago we were all told that 3D television was going to be the way we would be going and many people spent double the money to buy a 3D tv. How many of these people see any more on their TV than the rest of us because my video CD DVD store does not stock them. They have even seem to stop making new 3D movies so likely all those people who bought the 3D tvs have seen about 2 3D VDRs and have just watched normal 2D television like us who bought standard tvs. Now there are 4K tvs and the TV stations are still only sending out the standard tv signal so likely those who bought 4K televisions will be like those who bought 3D tvs and likely they will not find anything to show the true abilities of these expensive tv sets.

Personally I think they are a gimmick that most will never see the value of as the tv stations are not going to change their equipment to show 4K quality programming as the government sets the signal standard not the TV stations. If the transmitting standard was changed to 4K then likely all the standard sets would become useless so the government will not change it so a few wealthier people can get the most from their expensive 4K tvs.

If you are considering buying one ask the retailer to hook the set you are looking at buying up to a standard tv signal and see if it looks as good and worth the extra money as likely it wont really be any better than the standard definition set. In the shops retailers have special 4K recordings to show off the clarity of 4K sets but many people are fooled into believing that it will look that sharp and clear back at their place but on a standard TV signal they will be very disappointed. There are no 4K videos to buy in the shops so likely a person who buys an expensive 4K tv will only see what a person who bought a standard tv will see so have wasted their money.

Some of the enthusiasts say high dynamic range is more of a desirable feature than higher resolution, but I still prefer the "looking through a window" experience over looking into a dream, as the colors seem too lurid. I suppose HDR can be turned off, though.

    They almost look 3D.

The color and resolution are about 80% better than a 480p TV. About 50% better than 720p HD TV

The color resolution...it really crystal clear for 4K TV...it almost unreal because it is so clear

4k has 4x the pixels, meaning it looks better and has a higher definition

Am average TV (usually 3k nowadays) has a lower resolution than a 4k TV. 4k has more detail.

The picture resolution. Go look at them. If you can't see a difference, it's a waste of money for you to have 4k- especially if you aren't able to get any programs in 4K.
