My friend isn’t allowed to see her brother until they are both 18, why could this be?

She said that somthing bad happened when she was in sixth grade and since then she isn’t allowed to talk to him or see him or call or text him until they are both 18 what possible things could have happened to make this the case?

Something along the lines of sexual assault or rape, and 18 because that is the age when she will no longer be considered a minor and is thus legal to have sex as she pleases.

It depends on the details of the situation, however very likely, this brother of hers is not a good man, and she was hurt very badly in the past by him.

He molested or raped her and he's in jail for it.
