Why aren't senior discounts illegal?

It's age discrimination.

    Promotions such as these are not considered "discrimination." E.g. the same hotel chain may offer the same discount calling it variously "senior discount," "military discount," "AAA member discount," "AARP member discount," and "corporate discount." Gets you on a mailing list, slightly different email content depending on which of several options you used to "claim" a discount.

    A "benefit" or a "promotional offer" of some sort or another, e.g. a discount, is non-discriminatory. Denial of something based on specific categories in law is discrimination - defined in law.

    Agėism is the more socially acceptable form

    of bias along with Ableism as compârėd to

    Racism & Sexism which is deemed very bad!

    Because they are inclusive, not exclusive. A business owner is free to sell his goods or services to anyone at any price. What he can't do is exclude anyone from buying his goods or services from a protected group.

    There is nothing wrong with businesses showing appreciation to seniors and to military personnel by offering discounts. It is not discrimination.
