How hard would it be for Yahoo Answers to change their system to automatically eliminate one word answers that are not actual words?

Not as easy as you might think. Consider every single word known, even just in English (including acronyms). Besides that, it wouldn't be difficult for the bot programmer to then have the bots post 2 words or an entire sentence (of actual words or gibberish). Fixing the current problem goes MUCH further than eliminating a random English alphabet character string.

Verizon apparently is unilling to hire computer programmers to do that. Computer programmers expect to be paid good salaries. Otherwise they quit and go to work for the competition or do a startup with s group of people.
Programming languages e evolve over time, develop dialects and become proprietary and unique YA's programming language is no linger the standard HTML or MatLab I learned in 2001 or the Fortran IV I learned in 197.
Verizon's IT people had to learn fluent French when they were fluent only in technical English in 18 months.
Anyone who days it is easy to code in new language has no idea what they are talking about.

Not hard. I know only outdated, rudimentary programming, and I could write it to work.
The hard part is making them care enough to do it.
