Is it awkward for an adult person in their 30's-40's to have braces on their teeth like a child would?

It's not as common to see the standard metal braces in an adult, but I would not think it awkward, nor do I balk when I see it. I do notice it though...it makes them look cute to me, but thats just in my head. I feel this way because teeth shift and move...people develop issues like TMJ with their jaw and braces are a medical device that can benefit child or adult. I think adults choose brace type devices that are less noticeable due to advances in medical technology, so they may have "nano braces" which are braces that go behind teeth or Invisalign which are clear teeth aligners. These are more pricey than metal, but adults pay more for it if they can whereas parents of kids may see the metal ones as rights-of-passage for kids and not spend the money for less noticeable alternatives.

No, just don’t let it bother you.
If it really does, you can always get Invisalign.

Not at all, that is like saying is it awkward for a grown plant to have a brace to help it stand up straight? People need to be more open minded.
