Why does Queen Elizabeth, Queen Mother have three names but the rest of her siblings have 2 names?

It's not uncommon. I have three forenames and my brother has two. The reason, I am told, is that the planned names would have led to a well known (at the time) acronym so an extra name was introduced.

Why not?

Well my sister, 4.5 years younger than me, had 3 names, including the maiden name of my father's mother but I only have two. I might have been a touch miffed about her being given her paternal grandmother's maiden name, but frankly I could care less. Stuff happens.

The Queen Mother's given names were Elizabeth Angela Marguerite; those just happen to be the names her parents chose for her...there is no reason behind the number of names, otherwise a reason would have been mentioned in the numerous biographies written about her.

I have two middle names, but my each of my siblings has only one.

The reason I have two is that a close friend of my mother died suddenly right before my birth. My parents decided to add her name to the middle name they'd already chosen for me.

Possibly something similar explains the Queen Mother's two middle names.

My younger brother has two middle names, Aaron Ira, and I only have one, Clifford. Then my brother after him only has one middle name, Cleveland. Parents are kooky like that sometimes.
