Question for communists, if property exists because of the Gov., how did anyone ever end up owning anything?

Private property exists because the state protects property rights. There are half a million homeless but over eight million vacant houses in the United States. If the police did not exist, the homeless would just move into the vacant houses. But, of course, they don't, because the state protects property rights. Even if the house is vacant, even if no one is using it, even if no one is paying for its security, the state still protects it. Capitalism cannot exist without a state to enforce private property rights. Walmart can't just hire militias to kill the local businesses and take their property to maintain a monopoly. Capitalism without a state would quickly devolve into feudalism.

Well, guys with big swords came along and said "I'm the boss, you're all my serfs and everything I see is now mine. If you want it you have to pay for it". Property exists because strong men exist.
