Why does Australia treat aboriginals less humanely than how New Zealand treats Maori?

I've been to New zealand and unlike the US and Australia where the natives had to integrate into the settlers culture, the settlers integrated into the natives culture! What led to that happening?

The Maoris were strong and united and they had a treaty with the Pakea (white people) its called the treaty Of Waitangi. They were still overwhelmed by the white settlers but to a lesser extent of the Australian aborigines.

Because unlike Australian aboriginals a) the Maoris had a common language: b) their culture was highly advanced (they wore clothes, built permanent structures, grew crops etc) and c), probably most important of all, they WON the wars against the British.

The Waitangi treaty of 1840 was amended in the 60s or 70s in more favour of the Maori People than it originally was. there was no such treaty in Australia.
