My way is, as soon as possible after I meet somebody (like 1 minute after, not when I get home) I write their name down either on the program of the event I am at if it is handy, or in a phone memo. If I used paper, I transfer it later to a phone memo that I can bring up by searching the name of the event. (This can wait till I get home or back to my car.) The next time I am going where I might see them, I look up my note and read their names aloud to myself before I go inside. That way, when I see them face to face, I might remember their name.
