So! When you speak a foreign language, assuming you can, I presume you have never made a mistake. That joke is at least 30 years old. Benny Hill once interviewed Mao Zedong. He played both parts and during the interview the interviewer also started confusing the letters 'l' and 'r'. The last question was: 'When did you last have an election?' Mao was speechless! Oh! work it out for yourself.

a) The word is "loudly". There is no such word as "aloud", only allowed which sounds the same but has a completely different meaning.
b) China has many elections at local level, regional level, provincial level and National level and the national elections are held every 5 years. There are over 9 political parties but only two have members in parliament.
c) Was he Taiwanese Chinese? They have elections but political parties other than the Kuon Mintang were banned until the 1980's. Their national Congress is elected every 9 years while the Assembly is elected every 4 years.

If you knew anything about China, you would know that they don't have the same difficulty with L & R as the Japanese do. As a "joke", you must be joking! I have heard funnier jokes from children.
