Is it true that some movie theaters have showtimes where it is OK to bring children, who may make noise?

My wife and I want to see if our son is ready to go to the movies. Someone told me that early in the day, they’ll have showings were the lights are kept on and it feels less formal, and it is a given that if kids don’t behave with proper movie etiquette (within reason), people won’t get mad. Is this true? How do I know when the showing is that kind of a showing?

I've heard that this kind of thing exists, but never found a theater where it actually happens. It's rare. Call around to your local theaters and ask them.

Depends on the theater but yes I have heard of things like "Child-Friendly" viewings like that. As to how you find out you contact the theater and ask them.

I know some theaters have a general rule - no one under six after six p.m. If you are going to a matinee show, especially a movie made for children, I think theaters expect it. No one, however, wants to hear a crying baby, and a baby gets no benefit from being at a movie.

Everyone should be quiet and enjoy the show
