Will the next King and Queen be Charles and Camilla? Will they be as uncontroversial and unifying as the current Queen, Elizabeth?

It seems they have more controversy surrounding them and are not as universally respected. Will this bode well for the future of the institution of monarchy in Britain and the Commonweath realms where the monarch still reigns?

They do have a history, people of the age 45 and up that took an interest in Diana & Charles while they were married, did go through the emotional shock of their divorce and what took place between the Prince of Wales and the then Mrs Parker-Bowles, well before Lady Diana married the Prince of Wales.

Prince Charles always made it clear to Lady Diana before their wedding that his relationship with Camilla Parker Bowles was "non-negotiable".

And, despite the controversy it provoked, he remained true to his word, championing the divorced mother-of-two and gradually making her role in his life increasingly prominent.

It was after Princess Diana's death and a few years behind them that they felt it was safe to marry.

But those that remember are still alive and well and still have that respect for Lady Diana. She will always be the Princess to all that still care. And this is what keeps the controversy of the Duke & Duchess of Cornwall alive.

Once They become King & Queen Consort..... hmmm, Will their controversial history do them any favours? I can't see them winning any popularity in the CommonWealth of Nations, and in the UK. I think there's a lot of Karma that they will end up having to pay. Lets just say; "what goes around comes around".

You know, dear, I'm beginning to think you're suffering from obsessive-compulsive disorder, given the way you post these questions over and over. Your love and admiration of Charles and Camilla aren't quite enough to explain the phenomenon. There are a lot of YA trolls with this particular problem.

But don't worry, darling: therapy and medication are available to help you. See your doctor.

The Prince of Wales is heir to the throne.

Too many people are prejudging the reign of Charles. They need to take a lesson from another Prince of Wales, Bertie, son of Victoria. As Edward VII, he was a much-loved king.

Charles' reign will be a relatively short reign, so he will not have the opportunity, as monarch, to approach the level of respect earned through 60+ years of reign as the Queen has done. Charles may earn respect, but it won't be on par with the respect given the Queen.

How is the Queen unifying? UN says there are 14 million people in Great Britain living in poverty, What's the Queen doing about that?, What's the Queen doing about the broken NHS ?, what is the Queen doing about the falling number of police and the rise in crime? I could go on. But one thing is true, Charles and Camilla are bound to be worse.

It will be charles and camillla, we don't really care about the monarchy, charles will not be king for very long, then it will be william's turn.

Unless he pre-deceases the Queen, yes, he will be King. It was always accepted, that his mother substitute wife, Camilla, would become Princess consort but, he is now sounding out the possibility, that people having short memories, would be more welcoming of the creature becoming Queen. He has interfered in politics for a long time now, sending those infantile "spider memos" to the government of the time. When that fact was leaked to the public, he then, unsuccessfully tried to keep them secret. There is no reason to believe that he will stop trying to interfere with government policy after becoming monarch. He will be as unifying as extra oil in water.

By the way...Andy Lucia is the one who deliberately lied, by asking the question about Theresa May claiming that she said "a bad deal is better than no deal" and after I called him out on it, he blocked me.

I think that in general, it's only around this place that there is much interest in, let alone controversy with Charles and Camilla. Most people will probably watch events, the Coronation etc., but then get on with their lives rather than spend much time thinking about that couple.

I'd suspect however, that you KNOW they will never be as successful as Monarchs, as the current Queen. And frankly neither will William and his wife. At least Charles has been understudy for the job for a huge number of years.
