Why do people think it okay to own a fully automatic ar-15 assault rifle?

The AR-15 is a SEMI-automatic rifle. It is NOT an "assault rifle" any more than the baseball I smash into your skull is an "assault bat". People know it is okay to own whatever legal firearm they can afford. No one needs your permission or approval to choose. If you can ever come up with a way to get the guns from the criminals, we MIGHT be able to talk about a way to get law abiding taxpayers to surrender the firearms they have a right to own. Until you decide to become my guardian and can prove capable of doing a better job of defending me than I can, you have no right to tell me how I can defend myself or what tools I can use.
