A stroke is an interrupted blood flow in the brain. They can vary in severity. In one example, football player Tedy Bruschi had a stroke, but was still able to come back. Normand Leveille was not so fortunate. He was a 19-year-old hockey player, when he suffered a stroke. He recovered sufficiently to walk with crutches, but had to quit hockey.

A stroke is an interruption of blood supply to part of the brain that causes physical symptoms like speech impairment or restricted movement in limbs. The interruption to the blood supply could be caused by a blood clot or a leaking blood vessel.
