How Flexible are Universities on grades?

British btw, basically I want to get into a university, need an A in a subject, could get a B, an A would be a stretch tbh. Would I stand a chance of getting in on such of I miss out just on that grade.

It depends on the course, who else applies, and what else you have going for you as a candidate. If you are looking at a very oversubscribed course like medicine, astrophysics, or physiotherapy, it's not likely that they'll be flexible. For many courses they may still let you in if you don't quite meet your offer requirements. You would need to phone admissions once you have your grades. If they have spaces to fill they'd probably prefer to have you over getting someone through clearing where they have to be a lot less picky. Otherwise you'd go to your back-up offer, which is no disaster.

Do you mean you have an AAB when the university requires AAA? Or that the university requires an A in one subject, and you don't have any?

It depends on the university, and whether they have sufficient qualified applicants. If they do, you're out of luck. If they do not, they might accept someone who nearly meets the qualification, if it's more of a guidance than a requirement.
