If you do something for someone who truly needs something, you are helping him or her. There are different things you can do to help someone. You can buy food for a needy family member, mentor a troubled child, cook meals for a sick friend, etc. If you keep buying things for someone because the person wants them (or you want the person to be happy), you are spoiling him or her.
