My friends needs help with an electric bill and doesn't know what to do.?
My buddies mom and him are on an electric account togehter. His mom moved out and stuck him with a $1,000 electric bill. He wasn't even sure why he was put on the bill in the first place. He's a good guy but a little slower and I'm trying to help him because he doesn't have any lights now. His electric company refuses a payment plan and doesn't have any special funds to help. He lives in PA if that helps any, any help would be appreciated.

Eventually I think the options are to pay the bill, move or sit in the dark. Options 2 and 3 will eventually lead to bad credit. No harm in asking around and I know suspect you are hoping to find some agency that can help him to pay the bill but i don't know of anyone, except possibly his church, that would help with this specifically. Maybe he can bug his mom for enough money to help pay it?

Tell him to get a second job and save money until he can pay it off and get the lights turned back on, and the fridge 😢.

Most energy assistance or charities will not pay that big of a bill. The most I have ever heard of was $100. He should be able to call 2-1-1 & find out what if any energy assistance programs exist were he lives.
