We have grizzly bears in the area that I live in. I've lived here my entire life and NEVER been accosted by one. And sighting are very rare too. These bears don't care much for human contact.

But when I'm out on the trails and fire roads I carry a 12 gauge shotgun. The first round is a bird banger load. The rest of the rounds are slugs. I've been told the banger is sufficient to scare off pretty much any bear.

And I generally carry an old surplus Webley .455 caliber revolver that makes quite a bang and delivers a helluva punch.

yes some say play dead never go into the woods unless your packing heat....or someone you know you can outrun...youll never outrun the bear..why chance attack?
