The father carries the "seed"/sperm and the mother supplies the ovum.

It really does not matter...as you need 2 to tango. Males are normally referred to as carrying the seed but without the proper ground the seed(pollen) goes to waste. Without the female your pollen will never bear fruit without HER.

Seeds are produced by plants The flowers that produce fruit and result in fertilized seeds require pollination. I think the closest analogy that can be made in order to answer your question is that the man's sperm is like pollen and the woman's egg, once pollinated becomes the seed. That is a really weak analogy but that's all I've got.

Plants have seeds. Humans are placental mammals.
