Liverpool 4-0 Barcelona...great Liverpool comeback or horrible Barcelona choke?

I have to admit, I got this so horribly wrong. Mo Salah got injured in the Reds' win @ Newcastle, and I seriously believed they were screwed without him in this leg. Yet a pair of goals each from Origi and Wijnaldum... I owe a huge apology to you, Liverpool. You had plenty more gas in your tanks than I thought. Now, on the Barca side, what was that?! You can't just rest on your lead and expect to coast through, you're better than that!!!! 😡😡😡😡 Apparently you decided to pull a PSG, and y'all know the reference. So, what do y'all think??

I know from the horses mouth (remember i'm Spanish) that Barca were indeed looking to score one goal and then have the tie won in thier opinion., perhaps believing they only needed to produce a limited performance made them complaceant...Liverpool were never going to give up the chance of winning without making Barca work very hard for it, maybe they foolishly underestimated Liverpool's determination...

I doubt they'll make that error again jejejeje......edit did anyone see the look on suarez face at 3-3? it was priceless ...

so to go back to the question....a bit of both...

In my personal opinion, Liverpool's win against Barcelona was one, if not the greatest comeback in football history.

Every team has a bad day or a match. A single defeat can't justify the Barcelona.

  • Both. Remember, Barcelona had a La Liga game on Saturday and fielded a second string squad while Liverpool fielded a full strength side on Saturday night in Newcastle. So Barcelona "should" have been fresher. They weren't.

They did it last season against Roma, I said after they won 3-0 it was too harsh and they didn't deserve it, I was proven right for the Billionth time on this section. Messi is great but Barca's defence is poor and they can't control games in midfield like they used to.

Barca have completely become a team to rely on Messi. If he has a bad day, they lose. They need to change things up if they want to win the CL again. They had no quality in the final pass, had no drive. Busquets lost his composure. Pique folds under pressure as he usually does.

Fantastic display from Liverpool. Were favorites for every loose ball, they had the drive to humble one of the best players in history. They did this without two of their starters as well, I do not know if that was for better or worse but you have to consider them favorites now. Klopp is such a quality manager, he did this with BVB and now Liverpool.
