My brother just brought a 2018 astra and this wire is hanging down in the boot area. Any ideas of its purpose?

    Have a look at the trim level he has and see whats missing on a top of the range model.

    It's for an option the car doesn't have.

    Impossible to say. It is for something that wasn't installed on the car. Maybe a switch for something your Astra doesn't have. They use the same harness for most models.

    Maybe for a boot mounted CD player?
