Hi, so this is a question for equestrians.?
I have been riding western for 2 years but have taken some breaks. I recently moved to English and I am picking it up pretty well given the fact that I rode western before. How long do you think I should wait before leasing a horse?

If the horse is on full care board and you are a good enough rider to ride it without a coach or instructor nearby, and you can afford it, then by all means do it.
The ideal situation would be to lease the horse you ride in your lessons at your barn - the instructor will know when you're good enough to ride it without her, and everything in its care will go on as before.
It's a good way to practice and get better... just don't fall in love.

Thanks you for responding!! I am considering leasing a horse that has a set amount of time a week you could ride for and deciding wether I should go for it.

It's not just about how skilled/diverse a rider you are. It's about whether you can afford one, have the time for one and know how to take care of one.
Horses are a wonderful animal but they are incredibly time consuming and a real commitment and can be expensive.
Leasing to start with is a good idea because if it doesn't work out you can just give the horse back,
