Different companies have different rules. I had a super company that allowed "hardship claims" but got absorb by another company that didn't(sunsuper) I searched around and found another super company (Australian Super) that would allow me to lodge a hardship claim and transferred all my funds to them and was able to lodge a financial hardship claim.
