Should I be wary of busy body neighbours?

I currently live in a block of flats surrounded by middle aged to elderly people. It's in a small, close knit, village and I've always felt uncomfortable since day 1. They seem to like gossiping and complaining about the most boring things. I've also witnessed a few arguments between them over trivial matters. In the 3 years I've lived here I've been constantly walking on egg shells. Me being much more introverted than they are probably doesn't help. But I try to be the best neighbour I can be and always have a conversation when I see them without giving away too much. They do seem to help eachother out though which is a positive. Am I just being paranoid?

You are doing good and do not tell them anything important.

If you see them, just say hello.

    Then go.

If you are working full time you probably only see them morning and evening.Try not to listen in to the "gossip".That is probably part of their daily community diet.If you have your own interests and aren't always home take it as part of life experience. Can't be too bad, three years is long enough to decide whether to leave or stay on.

You seem to be managing things well--being careful, not playing loud music, etc.

You may have been "typed" by the elders as a young'un, who's apparently harmless, and so it goes.
