I think it is save to travel by your self. Stay in tourist area is also recommended. and the transportation i recommend you to use Kura-Kura bus it is shuttle bus that can bring you to tourist places . if you going to get a taxi, "blue bird" taxi is highly recommended.

As long as you stay in the tourist areas yes. Take & use no drugs there. Min prison time for drugs is 20 years for tourist.

Exercise extreme caution and be very careful.

    Compared to Mexico City, yes.

All tourists, male of female need to be aware of their vulnerabilities and act accordingly.

No place is safe for most women, because they're all a bunch of weak, helpless children who can't function or protect themselves without a man! I'm not like that. I'm a woman, yet I do EVERYTHING alone and I go EVERYWHERE alone! Nothing scares me.

The U.S. State Department had listed no important standing travel warnings (link below) for American visitors on its website. However, a number of other Western governments, including those of Australia and New Zealand, continue to warn their citizens to avoid travel to Bali and advise those who do decide to go to exercise extreme caution.

——What I think: I don’t think Bali is so dangerous for you, but it isn’t even one of the safest city, so it would be better to travel with a friend... and, it may seem obvious but I advise you never trust anyone you don't know.
