Can a specialist see if fetus has an infection in its fluid or her blood?
My doctor called to say my baby is measuring out to be 3 an a half pounds but all her parts are the same size I have to go see a specialist. Can a specialist see if there’s an infection in baby or around the baby ?

My daughter was born at 38wks but only 4 pounds & 11oz. She stopped growing for some reason but was born very healthy. During the time of measuring her lack of growth doctors never mentioned infection being the cause of her not growing. When born her umbilical cord was very small for some reason so doctors assumed this was why, but we will never know. I'm sure if doctors suspect an infection they will let you know and let you know how to they will test for it.
Looking back at your past questions I doubt a gum or tooth infection would cause your baby to stop growing.

I think they can. I believe the procedure is called Amniocentesis.
