why do republicans think racism is free speech?

I know most of them still support a president who tweets like a racist. But I think an increasing number are sick of that horrible man.

...that's literally freedom of speech. It means you can say what you want and the government won't come after you. I could loudly yell how much I hate black people and the government couldn't do anything, however anything below the government might.

Actually yes, and admitting that does not mean you support racism or are racist. There are no laws that prohibit racist speech unless you are disturbing the peace or breaking some other law or laws.
