A police officer in the US is killed every 3 days, often from gunfire. Is the right to own a gun a good reason for cops to be killed?

Police officers do die, on average, die every couple of days. But it's not "often" from gunfire, and it's misleading to say that they're "killed", since that word implies intent. The leading cause of on the job fatalities among police officers, by far, is car accidents. Next is "natural causes" like heart attacks or strokes, which happen to occur while on duty. Then comes other forms of accidents. Homicide is the fourth most common cause. So it's simply not true that your average cop is going to face lethal danger at any moment, or that your average traffic stop could turn deadly.

No. This is another reason why the founding fathers never could have imagined that the Second Amendment would be twisted and expanded to allow criminals to own guns.

Police is the most dangerous job in the US thanks to Republican assault gun politics. And as a result they shoot and kill way more civilians because any person could be holding a gun unlike most countries in europe. We're just collateral damage to Wayne LaPierres $4M salary.

Don't let facts bother you:
Officers killed in the line of duty in 2018 = 144
Killed by firearms = 52
Killed in traffic = 50
Other = 42
The Right to keep and bear arms is found in the 2nd Amendment to the US Constitution.

The most important function of the second amendment is to empower civilians to resist government tyranny.
Cops are the government.
So, it's the other way around. The fact that there are cops is a good reason for the right to own a gun.
