Grave of the Fireflies, Rurouni Kenshin: Reflections, & Barefoot Gen. There're also a few sad American books like: Dear Mili, The Story of Patsy, and Captain January.

Not really heavily into anime. However, I have seen Grave of the Fireflies. I cried so much. It's a good, sad movie. I bought a copy of it and watch it occasionally and still cry every time I watch it.
