They deserved it, all them sinning babies and toddlers. Born of the filth of marital sex.

The flood of Noah's day served a purpose. It wasn't some random execution. Although it pains God to destroy people, he l takes note of cruel people who cause suffering and holds them accountable for their actions. Had God not intervened, the conditions at that time would have resulted in an end to mankind.
Also worth noting is God lovingly warned people before executing judgment. Noah sought to warn the people of his day but the Bible says: "They took no note until the flood came and swept them all away."

Oddly enough, Jesus showed that it was not God that was responsible for the flood, or any other evil.

Severus killed Potter's friend Aldus in a movie, does that make Severus evil? The sequel tells that Severus had a good reason. The Old Testament also has a sequel -- the New Testament -- which tells that God gives every soul who ever lived and died a chance for redemption and live in heaven. The redeeming grace of Jesus is what affects us and everyone who ever lived. This event is a bigger picture than everything that ever happened in the Old Testament. It's the event that overcomes everything in a spiritual sense.

God/Jesus was sad about the whole thing.
Of course your typical athee-evo type would have spared all the little kids, and just let them fend for themselves, sort of "Lord of the Flies" like, rather than rescue them from the wickedness that was all around them.
What athee-evos don't understand is that flesh and blood cannot enter into heaven (1Cor 15:50). If God wants a child with him in heaven, the child has to give up this life. Since athee-evos believe this life is the all end all of existence, they have no conception of that fact.
We see Jesus' disappointed reaction to a similar situation.
Matthew 23:37 “Jerusalem, Jerusalem, you who kill the prophets and stone those sent to you, how often I have longed to gather your children together, as a hen gathers her chicks under her wings, and you were not willing.

Jesus did not show up until the New Testament, so the flood was before his time. Jesus is the SON of God.
