Why did my mail arrive opened?

I got a sample of a product, the package was in my name, and felt like a small stack of money, the package arrived opened, someone cut the top off the package, what is this about? Is the post office suspicious of me? Someone thought it was money and tried to steal it? O got the mail right after it was delivered so it was a postal person for sure, but why?

Here's a guess: Normally sending cash in the mail is legal however sending cash in the mail for an illegal purpose is illegal. Money laundering is a substantial concern and if there appeared to be a stack of bills in a package it is very likely the package would be suspect in that regard. That's my WAG.

You probably look like a pure skag head so they wanted to make sure they weren't delivering your stash.

This would be a good question for your local post office or postal inspector, as they might have some information. (mostly especially if they are "suspicious of you" or not). Whereas, no one on the Internet could have any possible clue why that happened.
