Yahoo Answers: When and why did the ability to email other users go away?

We used to be able to send emails to other Y!A users. Now we can't. When did that change and why?

Update:

Wow. I didn't realize it had been gone so long.

Some say that, like nearly every other feature here, it was being badly abused. I'm not sure that's the reason because it could be turned off (no one had to allow others to email or message them (back when Messenger existed)). Either way, for whatever reason, it was deactivated well over a year ago and we have no expectation of getting it back. People now use answers or comments to abuse/attack each other, instead of via private email/Messenger (it's rather pathetic).

well over a year ago............once again, people were complaining about being emailed by TROLLS cursing them out...........so Yahoo's great "Improvement" to that problem was to end email. Remember when they had IM Messaging here, and all you ever got were idiots that wanted to Say "HI"......and then tried to keep the connection open forever, with nothing to say?

Its been down for Over a Year when Exactly they took it away that I do not know but they Likely took it away Because they Probably Felt it was to much work for them to Fix It and they got a lot of Other Things to Fix and its Probably the Least of there Worry's

That system went down about a year ago or more. We do not know for sure, but the email system apparently broke and they did not feel it was worth fixing.
