Alexander The Great took the country with ease

EDIT: Check out the map, Whasim, Alexander's Empire was all the way to the West Himalayas.

Because so many empires have fallen trying to take Afghanistan. And why have so many empires tried to take a mostly barren and uninhabitable place like Afghanistan? Because it is at a crossroads where east meets west and north meets south, being central to Russia, India, China, and Europe.
