What's the big deal with asking if we can buy Greenland?

Countries occasionally buy territory from each other. It's not done every day, but it happens from time to time.

When the U.S. purchased the Louisiana territory from France, it basically doubled the size of the country. And after that, we bought Alaska from Russia. Both of those purchases turned out pretty well for us.

Granted, Russia probably regrets selling us Alaska. But Napoleon managed to dump territory he couldn't defend and raised cash to wage his wars of conquest. I'm sure he was glad he sold that territory … right up until they locked him on Elba.

So, I just don't see the big deal. We ask the Danes if they want to sell Greenland. If they don't want to, they can just say, "No."

Update:

The only think close to an answer from The Left seems to be, "He should have known Denmark wouldn't sell. So he must be a MORON!"

Well, that's silly. You don't know for sure until you ask. I think if you'd really stop and think about it objectively, you'd realize that. Not that I think we SHOULD buy Greenland unless we can get it on the cheap. But again … you don't know until you ask.

Update 2:

I'm going to give BA to the person who represented The Left's viewpoint POLITELY. Once you accuse those who disagree with you of being morons or stupid, that seriously reduces your chances of getting BA.

Denmark have stated that it's not for sale, and the people living there don't want to be Americans. Case closed.

and if those deals taught anyone anything............is that you're an IDIOT for giving up land so cheap......when these days, we know a lot more about natural resources and fracking, and off shore gas deposits and so forth.

Denmark would be STUPID to sell Greenland, at any price.

and where's Trump gonna GET that kind of money?

Is Mexico gonna pay for that too? Add a few more TRILLION to the debt? Oh wait, maybe China will pay for it thru Tariffs, even though American comsumers are the only ones paying anything.

The Big Deal is, they (90% of the media and 40+% of voters)

would rather not see Trump succeed at anything...

  • Only the U.S. have purchased territories. Conquest has always been the method of expanding one sovereign's territorial reach. Greenland is under the protectorate (protection) of Denmark making it a territory of Denmark. Denmark just took control of Greenland, it wasn't conquered. The indigenous natives went along with it gaining a written language, academics, European farming methods & technologies of Chinese origin. For 100,000 years Mankind have been engage in conquest. Conquest determines who Rules, Protects, Taxes, and Manages the land (Hunting, Fishing, Farming, Mining). The rules hasn't change, just softens by the lead of Europeans & European descent. When Japan & Germany lost WWII, they were obligated to cooperate with their conqueror (U.S., U.K., Russia..) The axis weren't enslave as Europeans & Europeans in the Americas ended slavery 100-150 years prior. North Africa, Sub Sahara & the middle East was the last stronghold of Slavery (1964-2007), but still continues to this days in disguise or kept quite in African countries heavily involve in the slave trade across the Atlantic Ocean, the Sahara desert & Indian Ocean.

Why would Denmark sell Greenland to Trump? If Trump is such a smart guy then why does he always suggest such stupid, worn-out ideas?

Anyone with at least half a brain knows that it wouldn't be for sale. He keeps embarrassing the whole country before the world. You should hear what my colleagues overseas are saying. They think we're all flat-out idiots with IQs of about 60.

Doesn't the moron have a job to do? All he does is watch TV, tweet, insult people, write love letters to dictators, play golf and spend our money which miraculously ends up in his own coffers.
