Is this a bad or smart excuse for a couple of days off work?

I've been feeling mentally drained for a while..have used a few sick days cause I got pretty sick when I first started my job, been there about 7 months now but alot of stuff personally bottled up.. I was legit about to break down at work so I thought an excuse was to say a family member was dying. told them my grandma was due to pass away and I already looked pretty upset.. I feel bad but my grandma died years ago so it doesn't bother me and she would of told me to do it if it meant that much to me to get a few days off to unwind! I would say the truth but mental health days you would just get laughed at..

I think you'll find that if the truth is discovered you'll be in a world of hurt.  Employers don't like to by lied to about anything.  It shows character flaws and would tend to cause them to feel you might not be a good candidate for promotion in the future.  It is always better to tell the truth.

1. book holiday days
2. being off sick
