Can I release a pet treefrog into the wild? I'm in Michigan & on a lake so I'd release him near the water (not into a major city)?

Isn't there a reptile breeder in town you can surrender him to? The poor guy doesn't even know how to provide for himself since you've been feeding him all his life. If not, offer him up for adoption on Craigslist so someone will take him and care for him properly.

If it's been raised since it was born as a pet, that wouldn't be a good idea to release it cause it will not know how to survive out there.
