My Landlord Is kicking us out so she can live in our apartment (New jersey)?

So our landlord recently sent us text message stating that it would be in her best interest to live in our apartment and rent out her apartment! This is all so sudden, we always pay rent on time and i even go out of my way to do things like, shovel the snow from in front of the house so she won t get into trouble. We ve been living here for 7 years. she sent us a letter, a 30 day notice to leave, she recently collected rent. What are our rights as tenants? What can we do? we rent in new jersey by the way. I m completely terrified!

She gave you 30 days, that's all shes legally required to do

The landlord has the right to live in their own property. As long as she has given you the notice required by law you have no rights at all. You clear out all of your stuff and leave within the notice period.

You need to find out how much time she needs to give you in order to have you move out. Plus I assume you are no longer on a lease, correct? If you have a current lease with you, she can not do this until the lease expires.

Unless you have a lease for a longer term, you need to move when the 30 days expires.

If you have no written lease, then she's followed all the proper procedures. Start looking.

Sounds like you don't have an annual lease.

30 days notice is all that is required if renting month to month...

She needs to honor the terms of the lease but if you're month to month then she has given the proper notice.

What you can do, if no signed lease then start packing your bags and look for a new place to live.

She did everything legal she needed to do. You have 30 days to find a new place, pack up, and move out. End of story. There was also no good reason to post this 9 times.
