Is it lying to say "I am Danish", whenever I am asked?

My parents and I were born in Iraq and moved to Denmark years ago. We are all Danish citizens and since we are not Muslims, we identify ourselves as "Danish" instead of "Iraqi". My question is, is it lying to say "I am Danish", whenever I am asked?

If you are a citizen of Denmark, you are not lying to say you are Danish. Just don't offer to sell Greenland to anyone

If you're a Danish citizen, just say that. You wouldn't be lying.

If you're a Danish citizen, then you're not lying when you say you're Danish. It would only be lying if you claimed to be ethnically Danish. So by all means, go ahead and say you're Danish. I'm Danish and I certainly don't have a problem with it.

    No, but it is misleading.

if you are a citizen of Denmark, it is entirely true and proper to identify yourself as Danish.

Technically you are lying. Your nationality is Danish but people can own many nationalities. Your nationality is simply where you reside and hold citizenship. Logically you are an Iraqi by blood (your ethnicity is what culture or race you belong to genetically).therefore you are logically an iraqi. Also I dont see why your religion matters here?. Regardless you should never be ashamed of your origins but rather proud of your countries heritage and your history. Take care.

If you have the Danish nationality ("passport") you are LEGALLY danish

If your native or main language is Danish, you are ETHNICALLY danish.

If you live in Denmark and are a Denmark citizen in a way you’re danish .

Me? I have danish ancestry but live in Australia and say I’m Australian.

    It’s not lying .
