Let's see if we have all the facts straight here. You're saying your wife got herself knocked up by a British citizen she is not & never was married to? She gets ZIP! Even the baby gets zip unless the father proves paternity (DNA tests all around) & proves his British citizenship at the time of his baby's birth. He could, if he wants, go to court & petition for permanent sole custody of the child, & if he gets the court order, take baby to UK. Leave your wife (baby-mother) behind.

The ONLY way your wife could go to UK would be if the baby-daddy married baby-mommy & met all requirements to sponsor a visa for her to enter UK. IF that marriage continued, she might eventually obtain ILR (Indefinite Leave to Remain - legal permanent residency status). And if she eventually met all additional requirements, she might qualify to apply for citizenship as the spouse of a British citizen.

But since she's married to you, no way she's going to UK. Baby-daddy is never going to marry her even though he could possibly take that baby. Neither are you going to get anything out of this! Committing procreation is not a qualification for any visa or immigration anywhere in the world. A child derives rights from its parents. Parents get nothing out of it but the responsibility of raising a child & paying for everything baby needs until adulthood.

Not unless he sponsors her UK permanent residency and she fulfills the terms of that to eventually be able to naturalize. Just giving birth isn't grounds for immigration (let alone citizenship).

she has to pass the Life in UK Test first

i would ask someone in immigration about it

    Nope

The child would get British citizenship from his British father (as long as the father was born in the UK)

If the mother wants citizenship, the family will need to move to the UK so she can establish residency on a spouse visa (ie they'll need to marry), and live there for 5+ years to meet the requirements for applying for citizenship

Wait. Your wife had an affair with an unmarried guy and you want to know if that somehow qualifies her for citizenship of the country of the guy she bedded? Ummm...no.

If you are the child's father and you are unmarried, then whose wife are you referring to? You don't have a wife.

In any case, girlfriends have no special citizenship rights. Why would you expect the government to give your relationship any more legal importance than you have?

If you're not married, she's not your wife. The first thing to talk to a immigration lawyer about is getting her into Britain- either as a fiancee or a wife. Then she can apply for residency. Citizenship is a long way down the road. Getting into the country legally is not the same as getting citizenship. Many people who have lived in Britain for many years legally are not citizens.

Breeding with someone doesn't give them citizenship................ if the father is British then potentially the child could get British citizenship by descent but married or not citizenship is not an option for the mother

Based on the fact that her child's father is British? No.
