First, a minor correction to the assumption in your question. Right now the Tories are not turning on Boris. There is a significant segment of the Conservative Party in the UK that knows that the best interests of the UK in the long-term is a close connection to the rest of Europe. An even bigger group understand that, if the U..K. leaves the EU, it needs to be on managed terms to reduce the shock of the exit. This group never supported Boris in his recent election to become leader of the Conservative Party. Some (but not all) of the Members of Parliament who belong to this moderate wing of the Conservative Party put country over party and voted over the past two days to prevent a no deal Brexit and to delay any early elections until after the EU and the UK have worked out an extension of the current deadline for the UK to exit.

Now, if moderate conservatives vote for other parties in the next general election (probably in November or January) and Conservative Party loses "bigly" when they have no greatest deal ever for Brexit, then the Conservatives may dump Boris.

And some of Trump's base will be rightly disappointed that he has failed to deliver any new trade deals (other than very modest changes to NAFTA) and has failed to build a border wall or fix the immigration system. And if that happens, nobody running in 2022 or 2024 in the Republican Party will proclaim themselves a Trumpite.

If McConnell is voted out of office in either the primary or the general election, the Republicans will hopefully lose control of the Senate anf Schumer will become majority leader.
