When atheists and other non-Christians blame Christianity for violence, why do they never check if such violence is commanded by the New Testament

Because atheism is fundamentally based on intellectual dishonesty.

In this case, if a person calls themselves an "atheist", but says they believe in God, atheists wouldn't consider them an atheist because the dictionary says atheists don't believe in God.  However if a person calls themselves a "Christian", but says they believe hurting and even killing their neighbor is okay, atheists would still consider them a Christian because they don't care how the Bible defines the religion, even if Christ commanded his disciples to love their neighbors (Mt 22:39).

So all the terrible violence actually proves claims of a loving god are totally false then?!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    Biblical wars.

    Crusades.

    Dark ages.

    Reformation.

Stalin was raised a Catholic and controlled the Russian Orthodox Church – in the top ten of Christian denominations. Lenin was a baptised member of the Russian Orthodox Church and never ventured to go beyond the opinion that the Church and the clergy were part of the ruling classes, - Marx was a lifelong Christian and is buried in Highgate cemetery in London. Russia has always been Christian which is why St Basil’s Cathedral is at the heart of the Kremlin!

Hence today I believe that I am acting in accordance with the will of the Almighty Creator: by defending myself against the Jew, I am fighting for the work of the Lord. - Adolf Hitler

My feelings as a Christian points me to my Lord and Savior as a fighter.

    - Adolf Hitler

As a Christian I have no duty to allow myself to be cheated, but I have the duty to be a fighter for truth and justice... And if there is anything which could demonstrate that we are acting rightly it is the distress that daily grows. For as a Christian I have also a duty to my own people. - Adolf Hitler

George W Bush started FIVE wars in less than eight years stating each time that it was his "God Given Duty” and in 2001 even called it a Crusade!

Not his duty to the electors!

    Not his duty to America!

Just his duty to keep slaughtering heathens for his god!

Look at all the terrible intolerance, hatred, bigotry, homophobia and persecution posted by Christians towards others!

  • No, that's not how it works. We blame, but never believe.

"When atheists and other non-Christians blame Christianity for violence?"

To deflect responsibility. The truth is that the door swings both ways. There are offenders on both sides of the fence.

they know the NT demands we not engage in such activities. the nt even debatably prohibits Christians from engaging in self-defensive violent action. for some reason The World believes the opposite of what Christianity actually says about virtually anything.

A classic example of this is The World's projection of Christian men as "Controlling" when The Bible clearly instructs Husbands to "Love" their Wives and treat them as "Delicate" Treasures deserving of boundless respect and kindness.

Jesus exists and is God. A person can know these things with certainty by way of having true devotion to the Immaculate Heart of the Virgin Mary.

    That's not how it works.

Most religions and ideologies that spark violence were never intended to do so. Christianity is no different.

But the cold reality is that it has been a vehicle for violence and is a reality believers must come to terms with. One could reasonably argue it is the refusal of believers past to recognise how their faith has been used by ruthless, greedy, manipulative and angry people over the centuries that has allowed the faith to be repeatedly twisted for evil purposes. Shouldn't every generation renew their determination to do better and to do it right?

    Why is that relevant?

Y'all aren't supposed to LIE and you do.

What would be the point? They don't believe the Bible anyway.

The world is a mirror. That's why blame/ judgment is a lie. Judge not or you will be judged.
