I have a 2017 Avalon, I’ve always taken my car to the dealership for an oil change. Can I take it to another shop that cost less?

Sure. A car's warranty is not connected to where oil changes are done, just that they be done at the appropriate mileage intervals.

you can take it anywhere, just avoid the fast oil change places, and take it to a qualified mechanic, or do it yourself if you don't mind getting dirty AND know how to do it properly !

It's probably not used oil. But, they use bulk oil. Not a high quality oil. I usually change my own & take my used oil back to the store (they're required to take it back). I had a K&N permanent filter installed. I just take it out, drain & clean it (no paper). Then, I use a synthetic oil. I change the oil when it starts getting black. 385,000 miles on a 20 year old 4 cylinder. I change the air filter twice a year & have the trans serviced once a year.

Yes, and keep the receipts in case it needs warranty work in the future.

You can take it wherever you want for oil changes, unless something in the language of your purchase or lease agreement states that you must take it back to the dealer (or another approved Toyota dealer) in order to avoid voiding your warranty. And I'm sure there is no such stipulation.

Some sale or lease deals offer free or reduced-cost oil changes with the dealer. If yours did, and you've already used them, or did not, go wherever is most convenient and cost-efficient for you. Some dealerships offer packages of so many oil changes for a pre-paid upfront cost, which might save you money in the long run but may or may not be convenient for you.
