From an atheist's perspective, disbelief is more accurate but I would not even say a disbelief of a God but rather a disbelief in the "claim" of Gods. The whole point is that atheists see no good reasons to accept the highly magical claim of a super Being that has no limits and sees and knows everything. We ask theists how they know of such an existence and all we get are very poor reasons. From a theist's perspective, since they believe their particular God to be real, it appears to be a denial even though they cannot provide "good" evidence or reasoning of their God and seem to be in denial of evidence and reasoning against their religion/God.

atheism | ˈāTHēˌizəm |
noun
disbelief or lack of belief in the existence of God or gods.
That's the only acceptable description of atheism. Remember, Mr. Dictionary is your friend.

Denial. They know God exists but deny it because they want to continue in a sinful lifestyle full of lust and cruelty. Living for the flesh.

Disbelief. It's actually belief that there is no God, not lack of belief that God exists though.

Disbelief is the word you seek.
There is, after all is said and done, no god to reject.
A dictionary could be your friend if you weren't hostile to it.
