Dude, follow your bliss. Civil engineering is plenty diverse, and if you enjoy it more, and it lets you express your creative side more, then go for it. Remember, you're going to be doing this stuff every day for the next 40-50 years, unless you change careers, so be sure it's something you like. Best of luck!

Do not waste your time, switch to electrical engineering now. As other people suggested. 

Try this. Go to a Library and take the Vocational Aptitude Test.

It will show which fields are your strongest for a career choice. These are the fields which will keep your interests. These are where you will be happiest working, where you will make the most contribution and which will contribute the most to you. The best field is where you should obtain your first degree. You can slide sideways after getting it but it should be first. Also take courses in resume writing and interviewing. Write your own resume and learn interviewing skills. These are becoming so very important.

I suggest you drop out of school and study electrical engineering and free energy.

Mechanical engineers don't just deal in dynamics or thermo. They can do a lot of other things. Once you get your degree you will find that many companies use engineers of varying degrees to do work that is out of their formal discipline.

In my 35 years as a mechanical engineer I have spent a great deal of time dealing with civil, electrical, chemical and even control engineering problems.

You may also find that civil engineers can end up dealing with lots of things not related to structural design. Which is good because over a full career variety make the job that more interesting.

people do not know everything, it is your choice and if you do not like the dynamic/thermal part then go and change to civil engineering
